Dr. Burke was born and raised in the Los Angeles suburbs and earned her B.S. in Organismal Biology from UCLA in 2004. She did her graduate research in evolutionary biology with Dr. Michael Rose at UC Irvine and earned her PhD in 2010. She continued to work at UC Irvine as a postdoctoral scholar with Dr. Tony Long from 2011-2014, and did a second postdoc at UCSD with Dr. Scott Rifkin from 2014-2015. She started her lab in the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University in the fall of 2015. When she is not doing research or teaching, Dr. Burke enjoys the many outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer, such as hiking, kayaking, and Dungeness crab fishing. But most of the time she's chasing after her kindergartener.
